RV Tips: 5 Ways to Keep Your Campsite Tidy

No matter where you plan to go, staying at the campground can be messy. Even paved campsites will result in some dirt tracked in here and there. These RV tips will help you keep your campsite and the interior of your RV tidy during your whole stay.

Take Plenty of Rugs

My advice for keeping your campsite and RVs interior clean is to stock up on rugs. We keep three or four outdoor rugs for sitting outside our RV. This helps reduce the dirt tracked inside. We keep a small rug to wipe your feet on the front door and more rugs that can easily be shaken out to clear the dirt.

Create a “Shoe Corner”

Another way to cut down on the dirt track inside your RV is by creating a shoe corner or a shoe basket. We keep ours by our front door, which allows everyone to kick off their dirty shoes when they come inside and slip on some comfy socks or house slippers.

Bring a Tablecloth

Rather than trying to keep your picnic table clean and sanitized for meals, pack a few tablecloths that you can easily wipe down with disinfecting wipes. We pack several tablecloths so that after each meal, we can remove the tablecloth, wipe it down, and immediately replace it with a new one.

Set Up a Hand Washing Station

Set up a handwashing station near your table to ensure the kids keep their hands clean and free of dirt before sitting down for a meal. There are many ideas for making an easy handwashing station on Pinterest. My favorite is to use a water dispenser, a hand pump soap, and a bucket to keep your campsite from getting muddy.

Bring Tarps for Rain

It’s always a good idea to bring along tarps to the campground. These can be used in case of rain to keep your things dry or cover up anything you don’t want to be left out at night. Be sure you always put away food when you’re turning in for the night because creatures like raccoons, squirrels, or even bears can wander into your campsite and are attracted by food.
